Calling all photographers, StudioPress have just released the Expose Pro child theme, built just for you guys.
Professional photographer, serious amateur with some favourite shots or just someone who wants to share memories? Whichever you are Expose allows you to “effortlessly create a stunning display of your photographic work” using the power of post formats.
Expose provides the perfect framing and backdrop for you to show your work at its best.
When you come in from the field, you want to effortlessly create a stunning display of your photographic work.
With a few clicks, Expose will give you the perfect framework to exhibit your passion worldwide.
Expose Pro comes packed with features
Expose is built on Genesis 2.0, it’s fully mobile responsive and it’s coded with HTML5, which makes your website future compatible, improves cross-browser compatibility and makes your site truly mobile-friendly.
It also has schema.org markup, which allows you to classify the most important and defining elements on your pages and posts. This enhances your site’s search results display by allowing the search engines to add extra data. For a great explanation check out Joost de Valk’s article Schema.org & Genesis 2.0.
Expose’s other features include:
- Five colour styles – choose your theme’s colour scheme from blue, green, orange, pink and teal – the demo site uses orange.
- Four post formats – supports four post formats: standard, gallery, link and quote. The standard and gallery formats are a must for a photographic theme.
- Custom background – upload your own background image using the WordPress uploader.
- Custom header – upload your own header image using the WordPress uploader.
- Threaded comments – see the flow of comments easily with threaded comments enabled.
- Theme options – allows you to control many of your theme options from within the WordPress admin area.
Genesis 2.0 was released in August 2013 and since then StudioPress have been updating old themes and producing new themes to be HTML5 ready.
For a full list of HTML5 ready child themes check out All the latest Genesis child themes.
Setting up Expose Pro – no coding skills required
When you purchase the Expose theme you’ll be given access to the StudioPress download area. This area contains all the themes you’ve purchased plus comprehensive setup instructions for each theme including screenshots and any HTML code used in the demo site.
The setup instructions also give details of plugins and plugin settings used on the demo site. Expose uses two plugins:
Simple Social Icons – used to display your social icons in the footer.
jQuery Lightbox For Native Galleries – used to produce a lightbox effect for thumbnail images used in posts that use the “Gallery Post Format”.
With the information contained in the download area you’ll be able to set up Expose exactly as the demo site and absolutely no coding skills required!
Although Expose is a new theme, I’ve already spotted a couple of well known WordPress bloggers using it:
Danny Brown uses the tagline “The Unplugged Lens – images from everyday life” which says it all.
Bob Dunn talks about his passion for photography and shares his photos old and new.
Guess they both know a good photography theme when they see it!

I don’t know how many photographers there are out there, but each one of them must be doing the happy dance now that StudioPress have produced a theme tailored to their needs. With Expose Pro you now have a theme, which makes setting up a photography site both quick and painless.
